CatalystCon was a remarkable conference…

One of the highlights was the Tribute we hosted for Candida’s life and work. My partner Robert Dunlap and I, who were her longtime friends and colleagues, hosted a 30 minute documentary tribute to Candida Royalle’s life’s work. The audience then shared tearful memories and joyful stories. Later we showed a one-hour documentary retrospective of more than 16 films she directed/wrote and sometimes appeared in over the years at Femme Productions.

It was a lovely tribute — with a roomful of those who knew and loved her– and those whose lives she touched with her films, writings and speaking. Candida Royalle was a true pioneer who has left a lasting impact on many women, especially as the creator of the first female-friendly erotica/adult films and with her message for female sexual empowerment worldwide.

I am so proud of being her dear friend since 1989. At the Tribute I blew a kiss to her spirit, calling her Glam Angel. She was always a powerful presence, a beautiful woman, and glam was her style!  I will cherish all of the memories I carry of Candice for the rest of my own life… in NYC where we appeared on several panels and were close city friends,on many national television talk shows such as CNBC’s “Real Personal”, in Paris at the World Congress of Sexology, in New Mexico and at several other AASECT annual conferences, and all over the world where we got to share the stage to sprinkle our wisdom and perspectives for sexual empowerment and edu-tainment for women and couples everywhere. My Glam Angel, you will be missed.
